Hello! My name is Chris (Rev. Myōkan Daishō), and I am an ordained priest in the lineage of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi – my teachers are Peter and Jane Schneider. I am the tanto, or head of practice, for Beginner’s Mind Zen Center in Northridge. I am also a resident of Grover Beach.
My teachers have encouraged me and given me their permission to start a zendo here in the Five Cities locale, to be an extension of Beginner’s Mind Zen Center, providing an option for in-person sitting and other zen practice to folks on the Central Coast. For now, this means I have set up an altar and meditation cushions in my living room in lieu of a couch and TV. It is my goal to host people who are interested in practicing zen meditation (“just sitting”) in a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. |
